About The Role

We are seeking both a full-time and a part-time, all year, Inclusion Worker to join the Early Years Alliance team in Luton. The roles will provide one to one and group support for families with children under five years who are experiencing mild to moderate developmental delay.  Working within the Flying Start/Family Hub team, you will deliver family-focused services aimed at improving outcomes for children who need additional support in Family Hub venues and in the family’s home.   The role will also provide group interventions and evidence-based parenting programmes.

You will have extensive experience of working with under-fives who need some additional support and be passionate about the difference you can make to a children and families. Strong IT skills and flexibility to work across multiple Luton sites are essential, alongside being a car driver with access to a car.  Previous applicants for Flying Start roles need not apply.

Main duties of the role

  • To offer a whole family / family centred approach to families, with emerging to moderate needs, to build confidence, motivation and resilience, using person-centred and strengths-based approaches
  • Work with the Best Start Inclusion Practitioners to provide joined up inclusive services and interventions for children with mild to moderate developmental delay.
  • Use robust evaluation tools to capture the journey for the families through agreed objectives including case studies. Contribute to Flying Start Key Performance Indicators for funders.
  • Human Resources – June 2026
  • Facilitate evidence-based parenting programmes including (but not limited to) the parenting puzzle and Henry healthy families and parenting workshops; both within the community and in partner venues across Luton as well as virtual delivery.
  • Facilitate group sessions as directed working as part of the Flying Start delivery team

Essential criteria

  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Health & Social Care, or proven experience of working with families providing early intervention services and an understanding of why the early years is important for future life chances.
  • Proven experience of working with children 1-5 years who require additional support or interventions either within an early-years setting, school, children’s centre or community setting.
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
  • A commitment and interest to developing inclusive services for families to help reduce inequalities.
  • Proven experience in facilitating parenting programmes or workshops.
