Communications and external affairs team

The communications and external affairs team is responsible for the Alliance's internal and external communications, Alliance website, digital e-newsletters and Under 5 magazine, the organisation's monthly membership magazine. The team works closely with other departments to ensure the Alliance is communicating with its members and other audiences in the best way possible. The communications and external affairs team also leads on the Alliance's public affairs, campaigning and press activity, speaking out on behalf of the early years to raise the profile of our vital sector with Parliament, the media and beyond.

People and technology team

The people and technology team is responsible for the Alliance’s human resources activity, including recruitment, learning and development, and internal policies and procedures, as well as our information technology infrastructure. The team is also responsible for the charity’s legal services function and the management of all National Centre facilities.

Finance team

The finance team is responsible for managing all financial processes at the Alliance, including payroll, payroll suppliers and support for funding applications. They also provide financial reports and accounts for the charity.

Membership and customer services team

The membership and customer services team is responsible for attracting new Alliance members and retaining existing members, as well as providing advice and guidance, developing new publications and supportive materials and managing the charity’s insurance offering.

Quality improvement team

The quality improvement team provides expertise on all areas of early education and care, and is responsible for securing and delivering national service level agreements. The team includes our Training Centre based in Tonbridge which delivers qualifications and continuing professional development for those working in the early years. The team also manages A Better Start Southend: a 10-year National Lottery Community Fund project to improve outcomes for children in Southend.
