What is your favourite part of your job?
The favourite part of my role is learner achievements. Knowing that the Training Centre and Quality Team have all contributed to the completion of a learner's programme of study and feeling confident that they will use the skills, knowledge and behaviours they have acquired to educate children in the early years settings.
Why do you like working for the Alliance?
I am in my tenth year with the Alliance, having started as an Early Years Trainee. I had worked in the sector for several years prior to this, however key colleagues in the Alliance enabled my career and it meant I could develop, thrive and achieve. The support I have had in each role has been unwavering and for that I am truly grateful.
The fact no two days are the same! Delivering online sessions, to being a part of strategy meetings and supporting colleagues across our own nurseries and the projects means it is all go, and the end of the day is here before you even know it. This role is sort of anything goes and I love the variety and scope that comes with it
My favourite part of the job is working with families and supporting children's development. I love finding new and creative ways of doing things and planning explorative play opportunities and activities for every child to engage in.
I enjoy working for the Alliance because, for me, we're like an extended family who want the best for everyone in the family. They're supportive and willing to offer the training you are interested in; helping you to find your strengths and working on them and building confidence in your own abilities — which sometimes surprises yourself too!
That's a difficult one as there are so many for me. Just before lockdown I was fortunate enough to train as a baby massage practitioner. Unfortunately, as Covid hit the country, the training was suspended for another year. Since returning to the workplace, I've been lucky enough to show many parents how to massage their babies and it's such a rewarding part of the job to see parents helping their little ones and growing in confidence in their own skills. Little Explorers has always been one of my favourite sessions, thinking of different resources to put together to encourage children to find out about textures, tastes, smells, etc. I'm often found sourcing certain things for special days such as Chinese New Year, Red Nose Day, Pride month, or Diwali to enhance and celebrate traditions and celebrations as well as the Christian celebrations such as Easter and Christmas.
I like the work-life balance and that every day is different — I am able to do a variety of tasks. I also enjoy working alongside my team and manager who are always helpful and supportive.
I enjoy recruitment!
