The Early Years Alliance is the largest early years membership organisation and voluntary sector provider of quality affordable childcare and education in England. An educational charity, the Alliance represents the interests of over 14,000 member settings who deliver care and learning to over 800,000 families every year.
 
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Early Years team based at Southend Borough Council.  Working in partnership with Southend Borough Council we are seeking Maternity cover for a Sufficiency, Business and Sustainability Early Years Officer based at the Civic Centre, Southend On Sea.

  • Job Overview: 
  • The successful candidate joins a busy, friendly team with responsibility for giving advice and support to all early years and childcare providers to provide a high quality of practice for all children within Southend and to play a key role in the sufficiency, business and sustainability of the service. 

  • The role also covers responding to sustainability enquiries from providers, carrying out audits or consultations with stakeholders and ensuring information provided through the Ofsted feed is received and monitored to update current provision available in Southend.  
  
Essential criteria:
  • Relevant level 3 qualification or above (or equivalent)

  • A sound understanding of the Early Years and Childcare Sector, Ofsted inspection requirements and the current challenges within the sector

  • Knowledge and experience of child development and the EYFS

  • Proven communication skills, able to influence and communicate effectively to providers, parents, internal and external partners.
 
This post is a fixed-term maternity cover until July 2020.
 
Hours per week: 28 
Weeks per year: 52
