About The Role
We are looking to recruit a Early Years Officer (Ofsted and Quality), to provide advice and support to all early years and childcare providers within Southend-On-Sea.  Working in partnership with Southend Borough Council, you will join the early years team playing a key role in the Ofsted and Quality functionality.  
 
You will have excellent, up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS and Ofsted, with recent experience of working in a senior role within the early years field and and good understanding of the various factors which contribute to a successful early years practice.

Main duties:
  • To offer advice and support regarding high quality childcare and self-reflection
  • To visit sites, both face to face and virtually, providing follow up notes and actions
  • To offer support on policy and procedure's including safeguarding, equality and diversity
  • Take responsibility for updating the team and providers on relevant changes to legislation
  • To plan, promote and facilitate provider cluster events
  • To support providers with self evaluation, parental engagement, teaching and learning and peer on peer support

Essential criteria:
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification or above
  • A sound understanding of the Early Years and Childcare Sector and the current challenges within the sector
  • Knowledge and experience of child development and the EYFS
  • A successful track record of providing advice and support to providers
  • Knowledge and experience of the Ofsted inspection requirements
  • A sound understanding and commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity and how this is applied within a childcare setting
  • Proven communication skills, able to influence and communicate effectively to providers, parents, internal and external partners
  • Well-developed IT skills and the ability to implement and manage systems
